Performance: completing your daily tasks and projects faster, with higher quality and less fatigue.
To unlock the full potential of our brain, we at brainboost try out various approaches and strategies for increasing mental performance.
NeuroSmart working is an approach based on the biochemical and neurophysiological processes in our brain. The aim is to make the brain work more efficiently.
We work particularly efficiently – a state often described as flow – whenever the brain can remain in a similar activity (= NeuroState) for a longer period without being distracted. Even within a NeuroState, there can be big differences in how the individual cells and networks are coordinated.
The NeuroStates
The following NeuroStates are important for peak performance: Alpha | Beta | Gamma
In the alpha state, the brain works in an energy-efficient, economical way. The focus of attention is wide, so input can be taken in from many directions. In this state, simple tasks can be handled while a large proportion of the brain cells are in a regenerative state of rest. Creative, associative tasks that don’t follow a predefined path also benefit from this openness of the brain.
In the beta state, the brain is concentrated and blocks out unnecessary distractions. This makes it possible to work efficiently on tasks of moderate cognitive demand. The different areas of the brain exchange information to a sensible degree without generating too much activity or stress.
In the gamma state, the brain focuses to the maximum on individual tasks and blocks out its entire surroundings. Peak cognitive performance is possible in this state, especially for linear, clearly defined tasks. This state requires a lot of energy, which is why it makes sense to use it in a targeted and optimal way.

Alpha – relaxation, beta – efficiency, gamma – concentration. Brain activity / EEG measurement.
Two levers for optimising mental performance
STATE optimisation: Your brain should master the different NeuroStates as efficiently as possible to avoid wasting energy on maintaining a state.
CHANGE optimisation: On the one hand, your brain should not be forced to switch from one state to another too often over the course of the day. On the other hand, the states should alternate in a meaningful way.
Training the NeuroStates
One objective training method for our brain is neurofeedback.
With neurofeedback, you can train the NeuroStates – and with them the networks in your brain – like a muscle in the gym. Top athletes also use neurofeedback to boost their mental performance.
Neurofeedback has numerous advantages over other mental training strategies. We have been using it in medicine for years to treat a wide range of symptoms, such as ADHD or depression. Taking the step to performance training therefore makes perfect sense.
In healthy people, training can unlock the brain’s full potential. Neurofeedback provides objective, real-time feedback: at any moment, you can see which state your brain is currently in.
Your neurofeedback training has a lasting effect. Once trained and learned, your brain retains its improved, optimal way of working.
brainboost Performance
brainboost has developed a unique training programme for peak mental performance, designed specifically for consultants and executives. We took our training programme for top athletes completely apart and tailored it to your needs. The result is a programme that helps you acquire the mindset and mental strength of a champion.
Performance training makes you mentally fit and helps you tap into previously unused potential. You get neurofeedback exercises at the highest technical and scientific level. In addition, you use biofeedback to train your physical reactions and learn to interpret and control them. Our workbook accompanies you on your way to peak performance and consolidates and deepens what you have learned.
